Matt Hardy Predicts 2024 ‘Renaissance’ for Ex-WWE Star – Selambe

Only at the beginning of the year did Jinder Mahal find himself back in the WWE spotlight guns blazing for then-World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. A far cry from their first-ever WWE NXT Championship match held back in 2012.

But only months after that, he was let go by the WWE. Now, the wrestler is training for his independent scene return under his real name, Raj Dhesi. According to Matt Hardy, a former fellow wrestler of Mahal’s, big things could be in store for him.

Hardy shared his view on the situation during “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy.” “I’m all about Jinder, man,” Hardy said. “I love Jinder. I love him as a performer, I love him as a person. I think he’s a great dude and … I could totally see a Jinder Mahal renaissance going forward in [2024], no doubt.” Mahal is set to make his wrestling comeback at Black Label Pro next month following the expiration of his 90-day non-compete clause.

Additionally, reports indicate that multiple other promotions are interested in booking him as he re-enters free agency.

WWE Release Controversy

Mahal was part of a small wave of WWE releases that occurred this past April.

Shortly after his release, Mahal took to social media, declaring that he had “quit” the company, although it was confirmed that he had been let go. With over 20 years of wrestling experience, Mahal has spent significant time outside of WWE before.

He was initially signed by WWE eight years into his career and spent time on the independent circuit between 2014 and 2016 before returning to WWE. During his last run, he was perhaps best remembered for his controversial WWE Championship reign, as well as managing The Singh Brothers and Indus Sher.

Of course, this will not slip by the fans or anyone observing the wrestling scene as Mahal prepares to return to the indie circuit. With that type of endorsement from Hardy and a renewed commitment to the career, 2024 may prove to be a genuine comeback year for Raj Dhesi.
