SEC schools’ eye-popping college football recruiting stat for 2025 classes – Selambe

SEC college football’s superiority for 2024 has been the talk of the preseason, minus Big 10 outliers Oregon and Ohio State.

And it looks like that powerhouse trend will continue for years to come with this College Football Report tweet from over the weekend.

Nine of the top 15 for the highest class-player average for 2025 are SEC schools.

It might surprise some to see Brian Kelly’s LSU Tigers at the top of the list, but that coincides with overall 2025 college football recruiting rankings, with On3 having LSU as the No. 2 class so far, again behind the Ohio State Buckeyes. Rivals has the Tigers much lower with the No. 13 ranked class.

The Alabama Crimson Tide fan base might be most excited, as first year head coach Kalen DeBoer and his staff continue to impress with their steadily rising class. On3 has them at No. 6 (only behind LSU and No. 3 Georgia), and rivals has them as the top SEC team at No. 3.

Texas A&M fans should also not be shortchanged. First-year head coach Mike Elko, with roots as the defensive coordinator under Jimbo Fisher from 2018-21 before taking the Duke job, has the Aggies primed for a return to relevance. On3 has them as the No. 10 class, rivals even higher at No. 8.

Besides the perennial national championship contender Georgia Bulldogs under Kirby Smart, the SEC has a heightened arms race for talent with the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff.

Strong recruiting classes still are the bedrock of building a sustained college football winner. What SEC school will join Georgia, especially with Alabama’s Nick Saban gone? Time will tell.
