State champion Reidsville High School football team meets North Carolina Representatives – Selambe

RALEIGH, N.C. (WGHP) — The state-champion Reidsville High School football team traveled to the state capital to meet with North Carolina State Representatives on Wednesday.

The Rams went 15-1 last season en route to winning the state title. They defeated Clinton High School 28-18.

Not only were the defending champion Rams honored; but the program’s great legacy of winning was honored as well.

“I am proud to have had the opportunity to honor these great players and coaches that have represented Reidsville High School well throughout the years,” said Rep. Reece Pyrtle, R-Rockingham. “The record of this team which began with a championship win in 1930 is incredible and I will continue to cheer for them in what I am sure will be many successful seasons to come.”

Reidsville has won 23 state championships since 1930 and appeared in 30 state title games.

Their most recent run of dominance has seen the school win state titles in 2016, 2018, 2020, 2021 and most recently in 2023.

Several members of the team who were also on the state-championship-winning Rams basketball team also received a shoutout.

North Carolina lawmakers aren’t the only ones noticing the greatness of the Reidsville players.

Sophomore Kendre Harrison, who stars for both the football and basketball teams, was recently named the MaxPreps Male National Athlete of the Year.

Harrison also went viral earlier in the year after shattering a backboard during a game.
