Damian Priest on possible leg injury: ‘It feels like trash right now’ – Selambe

Damian Priest hobbled out of Clash at the Castle with the World Heavyweight Championship still in his possession. By the end of the match, walking was barely an option.

During his title defense against Drew McIntyre, Priest attempted a springboard attack while McIntyre was outside the ring. However, Priest’s right leg got caught in the ropes, and he ultimately required assistance from McIntyre in getting untangled. Priest limped around the ring for the rest of the match and, at times, needed help getting to his feet.

At the post-show press conference, Priest arrived in a foul mood, still limping. Before answering questions, he demanded everyone in the room rise for El Campeón. After receiving the respect he asked for, Priest was questioned about the status of his ankle, to which he gave a straightforward response.

“It feels like trash right now,” said Priest, who admitted he bypassed WWE’s medical team to address the media’s questions. Priest believes he’ll be fine since he continued against McIntyre and was optimistic about facing Gunther, the 2024 WWE King of the Ring, at SummerSlam.

Priest will likely undergo a complete examination to assess the extent of his injury, if any. CM Punk, a last-minute addition to the post-show press conference, said he thought Priest tore his hamstring. When it was his turn to speak, Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque did not provide an update on Priest, but he did talk about how the moment scared him.

“When I saw that happen to Damian, my heart jumped out of my chest,” said WWE’s creative leader. He emphasized that injuries are a part of the game and explained why WWE prioritizes the storytelling aspect of wrestling over the physical. Levesque did not specify when an update on the champion’s condition would be available but expressed hope for the best outcome.

“I’m really hoping when I leave here, I ‘m gonna get good news because while he’s walking around okay now, I’m sure adrenaline is carrying him through that,” Levesque said.
