Drew McIntyre quits social media after quitting WWE – Selambe

Over the past year or so, Drew McIntyre’s used social media as part of a character evolution that’s made him one of WWE’s most popular acts.

Now he’s leaving (most of) it behind.

The move comes after Raw last night (June 17), where McIntyre announced he’s “quitting” the company following Clash at the Castle and the second instance of CM Punk screwing him out of the World Heavyweight championship in the last three months. Drew’s X/Twitter account is gone…

… as is his Instagram

As of this writing, McIntyre’s TikTok — from which he’s posted some great promos and other trash-taking #content over the past year— is still active.

It’s the kind of commitment to the angle we’d expect from DM Hunk. The whole thing would have worked even better if somebody hadn’t made a big deal out of Drew re-signing with WWE shortly after WrestleMania, but the idea Punk broke him so completely he can’t even tweet or post about is a great wrinkle to what’s already been a great feud… and they haven’t even had a singles match yet.

As excited as we are for that, we are sad that the man who won a Slammy Award for his social media work has all but left social media.
