Rumor Roundup: Wyatt Sicks victims, Joe Hendry & NXT/TNA, AEW injuries – Selambe

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • According to Fightful Select’s report on the Wyatt Sicks, both the victims of Uncle Howdy’s group and the talents who “left” Monday’s Raw before their attack “were calculated, planned, and designed for specific reasons”.
  • They also say that WWE not mentioning the group’s name on television, social media, or its website is intentional.
  • Joe Hendry is expected to make more appearances on NXT, per Fightful Select. WWE officials were reportedly pleased with the reaction he got Tuesday night, and TNA was satisfied with how the battle royal continued their storyline between Hendry and Frankie Kazarian.
  • The crossover between NXT and TNA is expected to continue, says Fightful’s Corey Brennan. NXT talent believe whatever’s going on between the two promotions is “far from over”.
  • One thing we likely won’t see is a TNA wrestler as NXT champion. A source told Brennan that Shawn Michaels’ booking indicates he “would make anyone a number one contender, not a champion.”
  • Another Fightful report, this one on AEW, said that Buddy Matthews exit from House of Black’s match on last week’s Collision and the spot that led to it were planned.
  • It also notes that Hangman Page is expected back soon.
  • Kota Ibushi updated his status in posts on X/Twitter this week, one saying he’s still rehabbing his ankle injury and another that he’ll be back with AEW when he gets cleared by his doctors in Japan.
  • Kyle Fletcher told WGN Radio that there’s no timetable for the return of his Aussie Open tag partner Mark Davis.
  • During a virtual signing with K&S Wrestlefest, AEW megastar The Blade said he’s still with AEW but also still dealing with a back injury. He’s hoping to avoid surgery and return “in a couple of months”. His wife Allie, aka The Bunny, said she’s taking a break from wrestling.
